Kansas Language Legislation

Here's an article about a bill in Kansas to make English the official language. I think this is a good step towards preserving our culture.

Topeka, KS (AHN) - The Kansas House of Representatives is going forward with a bill to make English the official state language.
The bill (H.S. 2140) passed 118-2, and will now go to the state Senate, followed by a possible signature by Governor Kathleen Sebelius (D).
While critics say the bill will only be a rallying point for racism, the legislation only passed the House once it was amended to provide $500,000 in programs to help teach adults English.
Kansas is only the latest of two dozen states which have adopted similar measures. In Nashville, Tennessee, however, the Mayor recently refused to sign a bill setting English as the city's official language.
