The picture above is one that I got from Denys with the latest letter. I say it's pretty good for a five year old! In the letter below there is mention of a gift that I sent. When it was close to Denys's birthday I added a gift of $25 to my donation for that month for the specific purpose of buying him a birthday gift. Because of customs and stuff we're not allowed to send packages, so they ask the sponsors who want to give extra to give money and let them buy something that he wants or needs. Here's the letter from Denys's mom (note that it's kind of choppy because of the translation):

Dear sponsor Mr. Charles Justin Culp

Recieve a loving greeting wishing that you are doing well in your daily activities, may God bless you richly.

Denys paraded for the activities of September 15th (our Independence day, the translator) and his family went to watch the parade, his sister watched him. The weather of the beautiful town of Totonicapan is very cold but healthy, because we enjoy of the food and the hot coffee. He is doing well in his studies, the teacher says that he is an extrovert child, he partakes in everything, he passes to say the prayers at the beginning of class and next year if God allows it, he will attend 1st. grade, now he is in kindergarten, please pray for Dennys. He thinks of you and asks for you and prays God for you, his dream is to see and to meet you. As the classes are coming to its end, he will go to Vacation Bible School, he wants to learn Bible stories.

Since now he wishes you a Merry Christmas and that God bless you in the coming year. In the Student Center he has learned songs, Bible stories, and to pray. Taking advantage of this opportunity I thank you for the gift that you sent to my son and for writing to him. We hope to learn more from you. Thanks for the money that you sent to my son, we bought him a pants (jeans) blue color, a blue shirt, a grey sweater worth Q158.10, many thanks again for this special gift. Thanks for the attention to the present. Dennys: Written by his mother.

Isn't God great?
